Vidya Ramanavarapu, M.D.
Interventional Pain MedicineStaff Physician, Hinsdale Orthopaedics
Dr. Ramanavarapu is dual board-certified in anesthesiology and interventional pain medicine. She completed her anesthesia residency at Harvard's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston where she served as chief resident. During her residency, Dr. Ramanavarapu realized she missed having continuity with her patients in an outpatient setting which then prompted her to pursue an additional year of subspecialty training in interventional pain medicine. She completed this fellowship training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as well. She stayed in Boston for six years in private practice before moving to the Chicagoland area. Before joining Hinsdale Orthopaedics, she practiced at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.
With over 15 years of experience in interventional pain management, Dr. Ramanavarapu has witnessed how chronic pain not only affects physical health but can additionally impact one’s mental and emotional well-being. She works with patients to create individualized care plans to improve their overall quality of life. These plans can include but are not limited to non-opioid-focused medical management, physical and/or occupational therapy, and minimally invasive procedures (such as injection-based care) to treat musculoskeletal pain.
Dr. Ramanavarapu grew up around medicine, helping her appreciate and value the impact physicians can have on their patients. Dr. Ramanavarapu was first inspired by her grandfather, a well-respected surgeon in India, and spent many afternoons after school in the OR at her grandfather’s hospital. Now, as a mother, she makes sure to enjoy time outside the OR as well, traveling with her husband and two young children. She enjoys fitness, reading non-fiction, and learning about new cuisines and cultures
